I Got an Idea! Let's Attack Conservatism for a Change

Conservatism needs to be attacked.  I have never heard any “official Democrat” ever address this issue.  “Official Democrats” talk and act like Conservatism is sort of good, or that they are the true Conservatives.  Conservatism is a cancer.  It must be attacked relentlessly.  Below the fold are my two cents on what is to be done.

When I was a young man, Republicans used the phrase “litmus test liberal” to describe and inculcate an idea that Liberalism was a hodgepodge of kooky ideas.  It worked.  The word is poison.  Why hasn’t one of our jackasses ever in my lifetime ever attacked Conservatism in the terms as now exist so plainly: “litmus test Conservative?”  You name it, the GOP is tagged to it, up and down the chain.  We need to spend money not on electing people, but poisoning the word “Conservatism.”  Use the Republican linguistic tool “Capital C Conservative.”  How can we win and dominate the Republican party when Conservatism is admitted by default to be pretty darned good, and in isolated cases, the GOP is doing the wrong execution of the right idea?  Sure, I may go down to the middle school at 6:30 am to vote, but how can you motivate the marginally interested?  We need them to win, and we need to peel back Republican voters.  Most are lost causes and “brainwashed.”  But not all are.  We need to give this thought.  Many many GOP voters are good people, aside from their ignorance and stupidity on politics.

What is Capital C Conservatism?  1,  Tax cuts for the rich.  2.  Gutting social security and medicare.  3.  Cheating by Point Shaving (quit calling it voter suppression).  4. Exporting jobs to places where people make pennies a day.  Cheap wages for people at home (talk about minimum wage needs to be replaced by the more general and true “cheap wages”).  5.  Military spending to protect oil companies.  And last but not least: 6.  Being whores for billionaires.    The word “whore” needs to be used.  The money the whore takes should be called “legal bribery.” Quit talking about “campaign finance reform” and “soft dark money” and the Kock Brothers....it should be whores taking legal bribes.  On the state level, legislatures have been outsourced (to ALEC) by paying legal bribes to whores.  The message is simple and succinct.  Let Republicans quibble over details with “facts.”  We are always the one quibbling over details and facts.  It does not work.  The message: there are two types of Conservatives: billionaire’s and slow learners.  Which one are you?

Ronald Reagan.  I am sick to death hearing Democrats chide present-day Republicans for not being like Ronald Reagan.  The legacy of Reagan needs to be addressed.  Most of our present problems can be traced to Reaganism.   This needs to be communicated.  Quit talking about Reagan as being a great president.  He was a nincompoop.  He is the Founding Father of the National Debt.  Let them quibble over details and fake facts.

Libertarianism.  Never give a Libertarian credit for sane ideas on legalized marijuana or opposition to military adventure.  A stopped clock is right twice a day.  There’s not a dimes worth of difference between a Libertarian and a Capital C Conservative (George Wallace phrasing).  They are kooks with kooky ideas. How will they pay for the military?  A “National Defense Bake Sale?”  Simple and to the point.

Fox and Friends.  I know what the “echo chamber” is.  Most people don’t.  It needs to be addressed as a “propaganda outfit” supporting Capital C Conservative whores.  People who watch or listen to this stuff get addicted.  Its like porn.  And they get brainwashed.  Never refer to the committed Republican base without the adjective “brainwashed.”   I remember as a kid in the early 1960s hearing about people behind the Iron Curtain being brainwashed.  I was actually fascinated by this term...it seemed so unbelievable.  The concept is not new.  Fox, Limbaugh, the Heritage Foundation, the whole nine yards need to be referred to as The Politburo of the Republican Party, and their work is propaganda.  The effect of the propaganda is to brainwash good people to support billionaires.  Just like the Bolsheviks, Capital C Conservatives have Propaganda Outfits to brainwash good people.  We need to peel back some of their base.

The Religious Right.  Talking about separation of church and state is abstract.  Attack them on their own terms to peel back some of their base.  Their ostentatious prayer breakfasts, National Day of Prayer, Ten Commandment Monuments, all of that, needs to be linked to the work of the Pharisees.   It is lip service (as in “They pay Me lip service, but their hearts are far from Me”). Quit calling them the Religious Right.  They are either the Pharisees or the Lip Service Lobby. When they want to erect a Ten Commandments Monument, instead of yakking about separation of church and state, offer to substitute a Beatitudes Monument.  The ACLU’s argument will be just as good, but the elected officials look better to the devout.  Mention that if America was founded as a Christian country, then we need to ask Capital C Conservatives how any of their programs advance the Beatitudes.  Do they take the position that the Beatitudes are not fundamental to Christ’s teaching?  Why are they put in the back of the bus by the Pharisees?

Abortion.  My personal views are the same as Joe Biden’s.  In Louisiana, where I am from, this is a festering issue.  The GOP needs to keep the abortion issue festering.  This brings the saps to the polls more than anything.  The saps need to be told this: There are five Republican politicians on the Supreme Court.  They have decided a presidential election.  They exercise any power they want.  Why haven’t they overruled Roe v Wade yet?  The Capital C Conservatives are playing you for suckers.

How can this be accomplished?  My view is that our small amount of financial resources are put to better use bashing Capital C Conservatism in Republican strongholds.  I live in Louisiana.  The local elections are like those I heard about in Russia when I was a kid.  It’s a one party state.  What 30 or 40 or 50 year old person is going to run as a Democrat?  In theory, I know we need to develop a bench.  This is presently impossible.  The airwaves and internet needs to hit Conservatism where it is strongest.

My conclusion is that our money is put to better use in attacking Conservatism to reach the borderline base of “those people.” (how Robert E. Lee referred to the Yankees during the War of Northern Aggression).

In places where there are more normal people, like Oregon or Massachusetts, they already know for the most part.  We need to reach the non hardcore in the Solid South.  What has Capital C Conservatism done for Mississippi or Louisiana?  Why are they at the bottom of the barrel?

I despise Newt Gingrich, although I respect his technique.  We need to teach our farm team how to talk and what language to use.  The above is my view of how this needs to be done.
